The report published by the Regulator for Social Housing on the state of properties managed by Bristol City Council (BCC) is a damning indictment of its competence to manage its way out of a paper bag, let alone supervise thousands of privately rented properties.
What is clear is that a private landlord with this level of incompetence, would have his right to manage his own properties taken away from him and suffer fines of tens of thousands of pounds.
Given that BCC has been judged by an external assessor to be utterly unfit to manage its own housing stock, what makes it or anyone else, think it should be allowed to supervise the private rented sector and also make outrageously high charges in the form of license fees for doing so?
It really is quite breathtaking! Follow the link to read the report: Regulator of Social Housing’s “Bristol City Council (00HB) Regulatory Judgement: 9th July 2024”
