New rules are coming in from 23 June relating to the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) which could result in fines of £40,000.

The NRLA points out that while the existing standards remain in place, there are new enforcement and penalty rules.

From later this month, hazards discovered during an inspection will be classed as high, medium or low – no longer A-J.  The highest risks will automatically trigger council action although there is discretion for medium and low risk hazards.

This is a complex area and the following link will take you to the NRLA website where the subject is covered in more detail.
