rentsmartwales-logoA number of Landlords attending ALL Wessex meetings have invested in properties located in Wales.

The Welsh Government has enacted a “Rent Smart Wales” policy following the passing of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 in the National Assembly for Wales.

As of November 23, 2015, landlords will have one year to register with “Rent Smart Wales.”  Agents and those landlords that undertake maintenance or management of property must obtain a licence.

Licensing requirements includes approved training for Landlords.

Only once you are trained will you be deemed as competent to manage your tenancies and maintain your rented property in good repair.

The course must be delivered by an approved training company and covers the main principles that affect landlords including: pre-tenancy, setting up a tenancy, during the tenancy and ending a tenancy. Landlords are required to pass the assessment at the end of the course to meet the Rent Smart Wales licensing requirements.

If you are a Landlord and you manage a property on behalf of other Landlords then you will need an Agents Licence.
