North Somerset Review of Housing Conditions

Landlords with properties in Weston-super-Mare (WSM) must think strategically or beneficial opportunities to work with North Somerset Council (NSC) on an alternative to Additional Licensing may be lost!

This evenings “Private Sector Housing Forum” included a detailed presentation by NSC’s Lisa Osborn. Lisa presented a “Review of Housing Conditions” within the region.

Two options on how poor conditions could be managed and improved were proposed. These options are included within the Review of Housing Conditions consultation paper (see link). NSC are inviting landlords to respond to this review.

The options are to either adopt traditional selective licensing executed by NSC or for landlords to self-regulate themselves through an innovative and less formal accreditation scheme.

ALL Wessex are encouraging WSM landlords to think beyond the day-today management issues of managing a tenancy, to think strategically and provide feedback on their preference through the consultation process.
