Gas Safe Checks – Boilers & Flues Amendments

Filed in Landlords by on 22nd October, 2018 0 Comments

On 6th April 2018 amendments to The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 came into force.

Of interest to landlords is the provision under section 6 Article 36(A)(1) relating to boiler and flues annual checks. The amendment provides flexibility to landlords in permitting gas boiler and flue annual checks to be conducted two months in advance of the due date and for the next annual check to be calculated from the date due date, as opposed to the earlier date when the check was carried out.

It would appear that not all Gas Safe engineers are familiar with these recent changes and you may need to prompt them to read the regulation amendment, alternatively the Gas Safe Register advice to landlords(para 2).

You will need to ensure a copy of the last check is available to the Gas Safe engineer.

If you experience issues please contact the Gas Safe Register Consumer Help Line: 0800 408 5500 and provide your engineers gas safe engineers ID number given on his/her ID card or on the Servicing Certificate.
